It came across my mind, a conversation that we (a group of friends from different backgrounds) had during a stormy night that locked us inside the building…
One of us just broke up with a girlfriend of his. The reason is that they are from different religion, and thinking of the future that they may had together, the girl decided to broke up before it’s too late – while there are no deep emotional attachment yet (and probably physical?)
Then he asked us a question…
“from your point of view – or your religion’s point of view, why shouldn’t you get married with someone not from the same belief? If you really love him/her why shouldn’t you just marry him/her?”
…
a minute of thinking…
…
and one of us answered…
“well, maybe from what we believe and understand, there’s this place we know as an afterlife where the souls of those saved will meet – yes, only those saved.
And say when we are married with someone that we could say, not saved, how could we say there’s love in it when we don’t even care for their soul?”
…
Well…. not really answering the question I guess ^_^;; But anyway it made me think through it…
So, what’s your answer for this question? =)
Note:
Actually I am hoping to get answers from people of different backgrounds and beliefs, but I’m not sure with my current circle of friend - or blog reader I could get such answers :P
Disclaimer: 1. The actual conversation might not be exactly the same 2. I don't want to get married yet >.< , as for now at least =p
